- Match the optical module or fixed optics at both ends by wavelength, fiber type, reach and optical budget.
- Confirm the RJ45 device speed and negotiation behavior, especially when a 10/100Mb/s endpoint is involved.

Compatibility and validation
The RJ45 and optical sides must be checked as one link. Ethernet speed negotiation does not prove that the selected SFP, wavelength or remote endpoint is correct. Share both endpoint devices and the intended optical configuration for review.
Frequently asked questions
Can the RJ45 port connect to 10Mb/s, 100Mb/s and 1Gb/s devices?
The documented copper port is auto-sensing for 10/100/1000Base-T. Confirm the endpoint negotiation mode and the required behavior before ordering, because the optical side remains a 1000Base-X interface.
Does the converter include an optical SFP module?
Do not assume it does. The converter housing and optical module are separate configuration items unless the quotation states otherwise. Confirm wavelength, reach, fiber type, connector and coding if an SFP is required.
Can I use any Gigabit SFP in the optical slot?
No. Confirm that the converter version uses an SFP cage and that the module is a supported 1000Base-X type. The remote optic must match the fiber, connector, wavelength plan and link budget.
How far can this media converter transmit?
The converter itself does not set one universal fiber reach. Distance depends on the selected optical interface or SFP, wavelength, fiber type, connector loss and measured route loss.
What should I check if copper is up but fiber is down?
Check the selected SFP or fixed optics, both-end wavelengths, fiber polarity, connector cleanliness, optical power and the remote endpoint. Also confirm that the optical side is operating as 1000Base-X.
Does it support full- and half-duplex operation?
The documented converter supports full- and half-duplex operation with auto-negotiation on the copper side. Confirm the intended endpoint settings if fixed speed or duplex is required.
Can it be installed in an outdoor cabinet?
The documented operating range is -20 to +60°C, but the converter is not described as a weatherproof enclosure. Check cabinet sealing, condensation, power quality and actual internal temperature.
